Federations from every continent took part in these events including eight Pan-American nations, 22 from Europe and nine from Asia. South Africa is the only representative from Africa, while Australia and New Zealand will fly the flag for Oceania.
Absent in 2010 in Rodez (FRA), Chile, Colombia, Estonia, Turkey, Mongolia and India returned to compete in either the World Championships or the World Age Group Competitions in Aerobic Gymnastics at the Armeetz Arena in Sofia. Peru participated for the first time in the WAGC.
In total, 851 gymnasts registered to compete in Sofia, with 385 lining up at the senior event and 466 in the Age Group categories.
After 2004, this is the Bulgarian Aerobic Community’s second time hosting the World Championships. The senior event qualified gymnasts for the 9th World Games 2013 in Cali (COL).
